This Christmas, St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Trim invites you to embrace the spirit of giving by supporting the Jack & Jill Home for Christmas Appeal. The Inglis family, local parishioners and parents of children attending St. Patrick’s National School, feature in this initiative, sharing their personal story with their son Alfred, who has a rare condition with highly complex medical needs that at times can lead to hospitalisation.
Alfred’s story
Last Christmas was one of those times, and Anne-Marie and Derek were unsure as to whether the family could spend the festive season together at home. Thanks to the support of Jack & Jill, Alfred was able to celebrate Christmas at home with his family. Anne-Marie and Derek said: “We would be lost without the services and support from Jack & Jill and the care the nurses give to Alfred. It gives us that breathing space to spend time with the other children. It just fills that glass back up again!”
Why your support matters
For over 400 families across Ireland like Alfred’s, having their child at home for Christmas with the support of a Jack & Jill nurse is a cherished wish. This year, the goal is to raise €1 million to fund 55,000 hours of in-home nursing care for children with highly complex and life-limiting medical conditions. This support allows these children to stay in their homes and communities, where they belong, during the festive season.
How you can contribute
