St Patrick’s N.S. raising funds for garden project

St Patrick’s National School is raising funds and source resources for a new garden project, which includes the purchase of a polytunnel.

The goal is to raise €1,500 for the purchase of a polytunnel and materials for raised beds within. The polytunnel, once complete, will provide an outstanding outdoor classroom environment that will allow for hands-on, real-time learning for students.

A school garden is an excellent way for children to learn about nutrition and healthy diets while increasing their environmental awareness. The children will be able to experience growing various plants and vegetables, harvesting them and tasting the end product.

This project will allow the children to reconnect with the natural world and learn more about the real source of their food.

Santa Claus made a surprise visit to the last Scatter Club get-together of 2018, which was held on the later-than-usual date of Saturday 22 December at the Diocesan Hall in Trim.

Despite the pressures of the season, Santa had gifts for all the children in attendance and was very impressed by the children’s warm welcome.
