In connection with the diocesan mental health project, there will be a walk and picnic for the rural deanery including Mullingar, Castlepollard, Dunboyne and our group of parishes on Saturday 31 August 2019. We will meet at the Diocesan Hall at 11.30am for a walk lasting around one hour. People are asked to bring their own picnic, which we will have back at the hall.
There will be a coffee morning on Sunday 1 September after service to raise funds for repairs to Fazal Memorial Church, Alomahar, Pakistan. The church recently suffered storm damage.
An outing is planned for Wednesday 11 September 2019 to Hillsborough Castle. The cost will be €35 including tea, coffee and scones and this must be paid for in advance by Sunday 25 August 2019 as tickets need to be booked and paid for. Please inform Jennifer McKenna if you wish to join us. Bus departure times are 8.45am (Athboy) and 9am (Trim).
Fuchsia Appeal The Fuchsia Appeal in aid of ex-Defence Service personnel who are homeless or in need of support is now live. Refer to the literature at the rear of Trim Cathedral for more information.
Athboy Concert There will be a concert in St James’ Church, Athboy on Monday 29 July featuring the United Methodist Choir from Vista, California and local choir, CREDO. Tickets cost €10 and are available at the door.
Retirement Outing The next retirement outing will take place on Tuesday 6 August to an exhibition of couture at the museum of style at Newbridge Silver. There will also be a tour of St Brigid’s Cathedral. Please inform Jennifer McKenna if you wish to attend.
Clonmacnoise Service The Clonmacnoise Service will take place on Sunday 28 July at 4pm. The preacher will be Rt. Revd. Patrick Rooke, Bishop of Tuam.
Heritage Week Heritage Week will begin on Sunday 17 August. If you are willing to volunteer to enable the Cathedral to be kept open for periods during the day or evening during Heritage Week, please inform Jennifer McKenna.
Pastoral Cover Pastoral cover will be provided by Rev. Damien O’Catháin (044 966 1123) while Dean Paul Bogle is on leave.
Confirmation class Confirmation class will be held on Friday 24 May at 5.15pm in the Deanery and Confirmation Service will be on Sunday 16 June in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim at 11.30am. There will be NO SERVICE in Athboy that Sunday.
Car boot sale The monthly car boot sale will take place on the morning of Saturday 25 May in the Diocesan Hall in Trim.
Mind Yourself The ‘Mind Yourself’ Diocesan mental health project will host a service of healing in Trim Cathedral on Sunday 9 June at 6.30pm.
Diocesan youth weekend The Diocesan youth weekend will take place from 21-23 June. Please contact the rector for details.
Parish barbecue The annual parish barbecue will take place on Saturday 22 June at 7pm in the Diocesan Hall, Trim.
The annual St Patrick’s Cathedral Steak BBQ will take place on Saturday 22 June at 7pm in the Diocesan Hall, Loman Street.
Tickets cost €20 for adults, €10 for teenagers and there is no charge for children under 12. Tickets are available from An Siopa Caislean, Castle Street, Trim and The Deanery, Loman Street, Trim. Tickets will also be available at the door on the night.
The Pilgrim Course participants will meet on Tuesday 2 April at 7.45pm in The Deanery.
On Wednesday 3 April, there will be a service of Holy Communion at 10.30am in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Trim and at 8pm in St James’ Church, Athboy.
The next Lenten soup lunch will take place at 1pm on Thursday 4 April in the Diocesan Hall in Trim.
Confirmation classes continue on Friday 5 April at 5.15pm.
There will be a meeting of the Select Vestry at 8pm on Friday 5 April.
Kildare Cathedral will host a ‘Mind Yourself’ charity concert with the Discovery Gospel Choir on Sunday 7 April at 6.30pm. Tickets are €15 and can be purchased at the door. The concert will mark the launch of a Diocesan project to raise mental health awareness and all funds raised will be donated to Aware.
Parents and children in Trim and Athboy parishes are invited to the next CAMEO (‘come and meet each other’) evening in the Diocesan Hall, Trim at 5pm on Saturday 2 March 2019.
There will be sweet and savoury pancakes for all and there is no charge for this event. However, attendees may make a donation to cover the cost and any surplus will be donated in full to the Christian Aid Lenten Appeal.

To celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, ecumenical services will be hosted at St Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Trim on Monday 28 January at 7.30pm (note change of date) and also, in Athboy Community School on Thursday 24 January at 8pm.

The next meeting of Scatter Club will take place at 5pm on Saturday 26 January at the Diocesan Hall in Trim. Scatter Club caters for children of primary school age and new members are always welcome.
Updated training in child protection will be held on Wednesday 20 February at 7.30pm in the Diocesan Hall as part of the parish’s Safeguarding Trust Training programme. This applies to all volunteers who work with children and parish panel members.
