St Patrick’s National School is raising funds and source resources for a new garden project, which includes the purchase of a polytunnel.
The goal is to raise €1,500 for the purchase of a polytunnel and materials for raised beds within. The polytunnel, once complete, will provide an outstanding outdoor classroom environment that will allow for hands-on, real-time learning for students.
A school garden is an excellent way for children to learn about nutrition and healthy diets while increasing their environmental awareness. The children will be able to experience growing various plants and vegetables, harvesting them and tasting the end product.
This project will allow the children to reconnect with the natural world and learn more about the real source of their food.
